The Schneider Corporation's Sign Inventory and Replacement Projects lots of signs
Schneider is currently helping three communities upgrade their street signs to meet the FHWA requirements for retroreflectivity before the deadline of 2015 or 2018, depending on the type of sign.
Communities in Indiana can use federal safety funding (HSIP) to cover 90% of the cost for inventory, engineering, and construction of replacement signs.  Agencies outside of Indiana may be able to use other federal funding (STP) to defray up to 80% of the cost.
Schneider provided training and equipment for Noble County, Indiana staff to conduct their own inventory of signs.  The Preliminary Engineering phase will be completed soon.  Schneider is also working on Preliminary Engineering for the Town of Avon's signage project.  Next, we are preparing to start inventory and Preliminary Engineering in Johnson County, Indiana.
The next call for HSIP projects will be in Fall 2011.  Contact Jill Palmer, PE at 317-826-7129 or jpalmer@schneidercorp.com for assistance with the application or any phase of your sign project.
