Andrew Harrison Speaking at the 2011 Indiana GIS Conference

GIS Web 2.0 / Gov 2.0: Transparency and Open Government
Andrew Harrison, The Schneider Corporation
In a memorandum from the President of The United States of America to the Heads of Executive Departments and Agencies it was stated that Government should be transparent, participatory and collaborative. This session is geared toward the use of the internet and Web 2.0 for better local government. You'll learn what Web 2.0 is, how it can be used to save money and still provide improved communication, coordination and cooperation that meets the goals of a transparent and open government. The information provided will provide you with a basic understanding of Web 2.0 / Gov 2.0 terminology and how your community can benefit from this technology. Using Web 2.0 is very common to some of the people however most don’t understand how it can be used to save time, lower cost, reduce risk and increase services to local government. Local government transparency critical however not everyone can envision a realistic plan for implementation, much less for its funding. This seminar will give you options to help you realize your implementation.
